We are seeing the staging trend appearing on the Buyer want list; so it must be done before the “For Sale” sign even hits the lawn. For those of you unfamiliar with the term “home staging” it is what smart home sellers are using to maximize the equity return when selling their home .
Christine Rae, President of Certified Staging Professional™ expressed concern recently about the next few years. “Public awareness is on the rise, they are seeing the results home staging provides with property sales we predict that its only a matter of time before supply and demand of stagers reverse and we won’t have enough stagers to meet the demands of the home sellers and agents alike.”
Rae also relates those in the staging industry as closely connected to those in the ”Home Inspection” industry – she says – 10 years ago the Home Inspectors industry was just surfacing and they struggled for acceptance. People bought homes based on trust and what they saw on the surface. Today it would be unheard of to purchase a home without having it inspected first. Home staging is following that pattern; it is the first part of the selling process, putting the onus on the seller to prepare their home for the market.
