What is an Organizing Move Specialist
In the introduction four types of organizing were mentioned, organizing, reorganizing, decluttering and maintenance. There are many different types of organizing. It is important to decide what type of organizing you feel confident doing. The more experience you gain in this field the more opportunities you will see.
Module 4 Organizing a Storage Unit
One of the trends in organizing is renting a self-storage unit. In the United States the self-storage industry is worth 39 billion dollars, there are over 49,000 facilities and about 10% of the population owns a storage unit. Squarefoot.com Storage Beat January 2021
Storage units usually start out as a temporary solution for holding the contents of an estate, storage during a move or a renovation. The average cost of a storage unit in the US is $82.00/month and initially the cost is seen as reasonable. As prices increase it is easier to leave the items there then to move them to another less expensive site. The problems arise when the storage unit is too far away, hard to access items in the unit, rental fee continue to increase and people forget what is in it. Some clients will have more than one storage unit.
Module 2 Organizing as an Additional Service
Adding Professional organizing services to your business adds another stream of income. It is another way to build a marketing funnel to increase your client base. Organizing services provide an initial contact with new clients that are not thinking about selling their home. The organizing services gives you continued contact with them for weeks, months or even years. If or when they move you can offer them staging services. Since they already know, like and trust you it will make the sale of your staging services easier.
Module 5 Unpacking Services
Many clients will be overwhelmed and exhausted by moving. Their focus is to get everything packed. They are not thinking about where things will be stored in the new home. You will notice this when you read the labels on the boxes from the move.

Module 3 Organizing for Selling and/or Moving
Professionally organizing a room or entire home consist of decluttering, reducing the number of unnecessary items they own, moving like objects into the same store areas and organizing so things can get gotten out easily, put away easily and are in a location that makes sense for the client. The process of organizing an entire home will take considerable time.
Staging is the activity or practice of styling and furnishing a property for sale in such a way as to enhance its attractiveness to potential buyers. The clutter around the home will detract from the attractiveness. Organizing for the purpose of staging is to enhance the home with less emphasis on organizing for making the home function better. We will look at ways to organizing a home quickly so the goals of the staging assessment can be accomplished.
Module 6 Putting it all Together
Serving your clients well and expanding your business services go hand in hand. Expanding too quickly without the right knowledge can damage your business’s reputation. Having an untrained team can be costly paying for breakage, projecting the wrong image, and not following best practices. Grow your strengths, expand your knowledge, gain experience and surrounding yourself with a team of good people.
